Are we on target?
Jan 30, 2021Can you believe we just finished January?
1/12th of the year is already over!
Have you heard the statistic that 80% of people that set goals for the year by the end of January have abandoned them already? That's crazy!?!?!
You set goals for 2021, right? So did I! Now, here's the big question for both of us: Are we on target for getting to our goals for 2021?
I talked about this inside our room on Clubhouse this past week. And it was a great topic, so I thought I'd share here what we talked about... (and, by the way, are we following each other on Clubhouse, yet? If not, give me a follow and then send me a DM on Insta what your user id is and I'll connect with you! Mine is @christilopezemc.)
You may have set your monetary goal for 2021 to be 50k, 100K, or 500k... or maybe a million, right?
In order to understand how we can stay on track we need to ask ourselves a few questions:
- How can we break down those goals?
- How do we keep on track and keep motivated?
- how do we keep ourselves out of the perfectionism cycle so we can keep going?
So, let's dive in!
1. How can we break down those goals?
The best way I know how is to break it down into micro goals. Something that overwhelms us keeps us from moving forward, so take that monetary goals and split it up to say, okay if my goal is 100K this year, then I need to do 25k per quarter. That means I need to do 8.5k every month. Is this doable? Are there times that I will make more depending on the time of year? If so, arrange the quarters so that you can concentrate on what you need to make monthly throughout the year.
Or, maybe your goal is to change out your website and/or images to re-brand the signature style you offer.
Maybe the goal is to book 10 higher-yielding events.
How about hiring a person to assist you in some capacity in your business?
Break down these goals into smaller micro goals and set your mind as to what you are going to accomplish in the next 90 days.
This makes is more doable, more attainable, more concrete and something we can look at managing.
2. How do we keep on track and keep motivated?
The first thing needed to keep on track is Clarity. You set those micro goals to get the main goal accomplished. So, clarity is how can I track what I'm doing and what will it mean when I get there? Keeping in mind what you want out of your goals will really make the difference and bring the goal closer to you instead of just some number hanging out in the distance.
For instance, creating a vision board that filled with pictures, quotes and ideas is a fantastic way of manifesting what you want. A goal is what you want to achieve in your business, but a vision board is what you want to have when those goals are met. It can be quality of life items, relationship items, monetary items, whatever drives you.
3. How do we keep ourselves out of the perfectionism cycle?
We have to realize that it's okay if we don't meet a micro goal, that goals are set to reach but not to break us. Motivation is great to have but it's momentum that actually gets us there.
Many colleagues, family members and friends, ask me all the time, "How do you get so much done?"...
Well, I'm not a magic unicorn, that's for sure! I have my moments when my motivation dwindles. AND, I have major times of getting frustrated that I can't get things done.
Sometimes I can or feel like I'm getting burnt out. In the past, I would allow myself or my staff to overschedule my time. BUT, I did that to myself.
It wasn't their fault.
I would have to get to the place where I had to make space where I had unscheduled time. I would have to RESET and look at what is going on around me and get my mindset back to where do I want to be.
We have to set boundaries otherwise we can get overwhelmed with what we have to do. Getting stuck in TASK mode instead of creative mode will get us completely off-track. Creative mode is where we can have time to think of how to strategize and stay on track.
I know that we can do what we set our minds to! I'm passionate about seeing you win this year! Are you with me?
Keep up your momentum!
